How legit are these services? And, what do you need to know before you sign up?

Experian which is one of the nationally recognized credit reporting agencies. There's nothing wrong with the credit report information because it is in fact your legitimate credit data. Where I advise consumers to watch out when they're dealing with those companies is to do a little research on the scores that they're selling you. They're not the scores that lenders are using when you make a credit application. And that's where I get a little irritated with these guys. And if they don't overtly disclose that this is not the same credit score that Citibank or Chase Manhattan will buy when you make an application for credit."
